Reiki is a gentle and powerful healing technique that helps to bring our bodies back into balance, as well as our mind and spirit. Hands-on healing has been around for thousands of years, but the system of Reiki was developed in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui and was brought to the West in 1937 by Hawayo Takata.
Reiki is most commonly practiced in person (it can be done via distance as well) with the client fully clothed lying on a table. As a Reiki practitioner, I act as a channel for healing energy and use gentle touch as I focus on various energetic centers of the body. Clients often feel like a wonderful glowing radiance is surrounding and filling them. They feel a heightened sense of relaxation, peacefulness, and well-being.
Reiki encourages the release of energetic blocks in the body and an increase in the flow of life energy. Life energy is commonly referred to as qi/chi in China, ki in Japan, prana in India, and biofield energy in scientific fields. Reiki energy allows muscles to relax and increases blood flow to treated areas, which speeds up the healing process. It is not uncommon for clients to report help with stress, headaches, insomnia, stomach issues, sprains, and other minor conditions.
Reiki is now used in over 800 hospitals in the US. A research study at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut found that Reiki:
*improved patient sleep by 86 percent
*reduced pain by 78 percent
*reduced nausea by 80 percent
* reduced anxiety during pregnancy by 94 percent
In addition, nurses report that Reiki helps patients heal faster with less pain, reduces stress and improves mental attitude, improves appetite, and reduces the negative side effects of chemotherapy, radiation, and other medical procedures.
Along with supporting the body in the healing process, Reiki also creates space for the release of stored negative emotions and beliefs. This allows clients to feel an increased sense of self-worth, confidence, and tranquility.
Reiki has been a part of my life for almost 8 years now. It has been instrumental in both my personal health journey and spiritual journey. It is a tool that I share with my family, clients, and yes, even pets. It is a wonderful way to feel connected and create a sense of peace and ease.
As a Reiki Master Teacher, I love sharing this gift with my clients and watching what unfolds for them, whether personally or professionally.
I often use Reiki in combination with other modalities to support my clients in their private sessions. You can schedule a healing session or set up a complementary 30-minute consultation to discuss your questions here.
“I really enjoyed my session and plan to schedule more soon! I felt very relaxed and refreshed afterward. I’ve been feeling a cold coming on and think the session may have helped keep it at bay.”
“My head feels lighter! I feel so much better.”
“Thanks for the great Reiki session. I definitely felt more relaxed the rest of the day. I am remembering to do deep breaths whenever I feel the anxiety coming on. Thanks for that great tip.”
“I had never had a Reiki session before last week and it was a very nice, relaxing experience. Jenn explained what would happen, and was very good about ensuring that I was comfortable. The time flew by and I left feeling lighter and very relaxed. I will definitely book another session.”
“Jenn is a great and experienced Reiki practitioner. Her sessions are relaxing, and unlike past Reiki sessions I could really feel my energy shifting. Jenn has such a great expanse of knowledge and holistic experience, and she’s one of the sweetest women I’ve ever worked with.”
